Scavenged Peach Cobbler

I was getting peach rejects at our farmers market this weekend for putting into beer later this week . Peach flavored wheat beer actually.. more on that later. But I ended up with a lot more peaches than I needed for a batch of beer so we made cobbler. I remember my grandmother making this every summer. She of course, peeled her peaches. She peeled everything come to think of it. She peeled apples in one long strip. I thought it was the coolest thing. She let me eat the skin, which was my favorite part. I'm not sure why she bothered to peel it if we were eating the skin anyhow but maybe it was just ingrained in her as the way things are done. I don't know. She also cooked broccoli until it was beyond dead. Gotta make sure you kill everything lurking in there you know. It was the same generation that boiled a can of soup for 10 minutes in case there was botulism present. That never made sense to me because if there WAS botulism present , it would have killed you when you opened the can. ANYway, we were making peach cobbler.... yes we were.. .

Ain' t they purdy? Free peaches are always way better than bought. Well, I guess I sort of bartered for them.. I gave him beer. Homebrew. :-)
The rotten ones taste a lot sweeter than the nice looking ones believe it or not. So next time you see a half rotten peach, remember that it just might taste really good once you get the rotten side off because it is just really really ripe.

Adding all the goodies of sugar and spice.. and everything nice.

Voila. Okay, it doesn't look too pretty, but it smells really good. And it tastes really good. So there.
